GW中の4月28日(祝)に、JFCネットワークでは、日本にいるJFCユースやその母達、そして支援者が集まり、代々木公園にて、「ピクニック」をしました。※English is below

昨年は雨天で中止でしたが、例年実施していた「いちご狩り」の代わりとして開催しました。昨今の物価高の中で、いちご狩りの価格も高騰し、負担感が大きいので、今年はピクニックとしてみました。

在日歴の長いJFC母世代から、来日したばかりのJFCユースまで、約30人ほどが集まり、旧交、新交を温めました。

特に嬉しかったのは、あるJFCの女性が参加してくれたことでした。彼女は日本生まれのJFCでしたが、小学生の時に家族の事情で母親とフィリピンへ引っ越しました。環境の変化などで恐らく想像以上の苦労をしてきたのだと思いますが、16歳の時に日本に戻ってきて今は日本で暮らしているとのことでした。10年以上経ってからこうして再会できたことがとても嬉しかったです。

天気も良かったため、代々木公園はものすごい人出でしたが、持参したお弁当を分け合いピクニックをした後は、「菓子」食い競争、風船リレーなどなど、フィリピンスピリッツ満載の盛り上がりでした。

そして、今年は、JFCユース自身がファシリテーターになって、JFCのためのワークショップも行われました。コロナ禍がすぎ、今、多くのJFCユースたちがたくさん来日していますが、このようなワークショップはJFC達の自助にとても貴重なものですので、皆さん応援をよろしくお願いします。

JFCネットワークは今年30周年です。30周年を記念する様々なイベントを予定しています。次は5月最終週に、ダバオの協働団体RGS-COW（Religious of the Good Shepherd-Center for Overseas Workers）のスタッフ、フィデスさんを日本に迎えての行事がありますので、ぜひ、ご参加ください。

On April 28 (national holiday), JFC Network held a “picnic” at Yoyogi Park for JFC youth, their mothers, and supporters in Japan.

The picnic was held in place of the “Strawberry Picking” event that had been held in previous years. With the recent high cost of living, the price of strawberry picking has increased, causing a heavy burden, so this year we decided to hold the picnic as a substitute for the strawberry picking.

About 30 people, including JFC mothers who have lived in Japan for a long time and JFC youths who have just arrived in Japan, gathered to renew old and new friendships.

We were especially pleased to see a JFC girl attend the event. She was a JFC born in Japan, but moved to the Philippines with her mother when she was in elementary school for family reasons. We were very happy to see her again after more than 10 years.

The weather was beautiful and there was a huge crowd at Yoyogi Park, but after sharing our lunch boxes and having a picnic, we had a “candy” eating contest, a balloon relay, and other activities that were full of Filipino spirit.

This year, a workshop for JFC youths was also held, facilitated by the JFC youths themselves. Now that the Corona Disaster has passed, many JFC youth are visiting Japan, and these workshops are very valuable for JFCs to help themselves, so please support them.

The JFC Network is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and we have a number of events planned to mark the occasion. The next event will be held in the last week of May, when we will welcome Mr. Fides, a staff member of RGS-COW (Religious of the Good Shepherd-Center for Overseas Workers), a cooperative organization in Davao, to Japan.
