2023年2月22日、マリガヤハウスは16歳以上のJFCを対象に第2回目の国籍オリエンテーションを実施しました。(※English is below)

このオリエンテーションはJFCのエンパワーメントへの取り組みの一環です。JFCたちの権利や義務、そして福祉についての認識を高めるために、パートナー団体のダバオのRGS-COW（The Religious of the Good Shepherd -Center for Overseas Workers）のJFCたちも参加しました。

オリエンテーションの内容は主に、日本国籍を取得することの意味、戸籍謄本について、日本での生活（労働・生活）について話し合われました。

マリガヤハウスのソーシャルワーカーからは、日本国籍の取得、国籍選択について、戸籍謄本の重要性などについて説明がありました。一方、マリガヤハウスの理事の一人で、日本で生まれ育ち、現在、フィリピンで就職・大学院に通っているJFCの貴さんからは、日本での生活について、特に教育、雇用、社会福祉に焦点を当てた話がありました。

このオリエンテーションには、ダバオRGS-COWから8名、マリガヤハウスから8名の計16名の母親と14名の日本国籍のJFC、合計30名が参加しました。

参加したJFCはみな日本国籍を取得していますが、成人までに来日をして日本で日本国籍の再取得手続きをする予定の国籍喪失者2名も参加しました。

当日は、東京のJFCネットワークのスタッフ、マリガヤハウスのスタッフ、ダバオRGS-COWのスタッフが出席しました。

今後も、日本国籍取得のためのオリエンテーションを実施し、JFCとその母親たちのエンパワーメントに努めていく予定です。

On February 22, 2023, Maligaya House conducted its second Nationality Orientation for JFCs 16 years and older.

This orientation is part of JFC’s empowerment efforts to raise awareness about the rights, obligations, and welfare of JFCs, and was attended by JFCs from our partner organization, RGS-COW (The Religious of the Good Shepherd -Center for Overseas Workers) in Davao. Overseas Workers) of Davao, a partner organization, also participated.

The orientation mainly discussed the meaning of obtaining Japanese nationality, the family register, and life in Japan (work and living).
A social worker from Maligaya House explained about the acquisition of Japanese nationality, the choice of nationality, and the importance of the family register. On the other hand, Mr. Takashi Ota, one of the Maligaya House board members and a JFC who was born and raised in Japan and is currently working and studying for graduate school in the Philippines, talked about life in Japan, focusing especially on education, employment, and social welfare.

A total of 30 JFCs participated in this orientation, 16 mothers (8 from Davao RGS-COW and 8 from Maligaya House) and 14 JFC who have Japanese nationality.

All of the JFCs who participated had acquired Japanese nationality, but two of the JFCs who lost their nationality also participated, as they plan to come to Japan and apply for re-acquisition of Japanese nationality in Japan before they reach adulthood.

The staffs from JFC Network in Tokyo, Maligaya House, and Davao RGS-COW were also present at the event.

We plan to continue to empower JFC and its mothers by providing orientation sessions to help them acquire Japanese nationality.
