母がフィリピン人、父が日本人のAさんは日本で生まれ育ち、長い間フィリピン国籍者でしたが、日本への帰化申請をして許可されました。JFCネットワークではじめての帰化手続きのケースです。

「ハーフ」と思われるカタカナ名が嫌で日本の漢字名にしたいと思っていたそうですが、いざ、帰化申請の時に自分の名前を考える場になり、長年馴染んできたカタカナ名に愛着を覚え、漢字名にせずカタカナ名にしたそうです。日本国籍を取得した今は、以前よりもよりフィリピン人としてのアイデンティティを感じているようでした。
Aさんには素敵な夢があります。その夢に向かって頑張って下さいね。応援しています。

On Friday, the 2nd of June, one of JFC, Ms. A, visited our office.
Ms. A, whose mother is Filipino and father is Japanese, was born and raised in Japan and has been a Filipino nationality for a long time, and her application for naturalization to Japan was approved. This is the first naturalization case in the JFC network.
Ms. A did not want her katakana name to be considered “half” and wanted to use a Japanese kanji name, but when it came time to think about her name when applying for naturalization, she became emotionally attached to her katakana name, which she had been familiar with for many years, and decided to use it instead of her kanji name. Now that she has obtained Japanese nationality, she seems to feel more of a Filipino identity than before.
